Balcairn Blend, Steamed Flaked Horse Mix
A basic pre-mixed horse feed that is steamed flaked for better digestibility, an ideal base to add a variety of grains and chaff to meet the specific demands of your horse.

Why steam flaking?
Steam flaked grains are cooked for 40 minutes then cooled before bagging. This process considerably enhances starch digestibility, (40% for maize) allowing for a more complete digestion and conversion of starch into sugar in the small intestine. Excessive hind gut fermentation of cereal grains is there for minimised. Your horse gets more out of 1kg of steamed flaked grain than 1kg of normal grain.
